Privacy Policy

Introduction

Gleemy Labs LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates Snipe ("Snipe" or the "App"), a file converter for macOS that lives in Finder. This Privacy Policy explains what information Snipe stores, what information is sent to our services, and how that information is used. Short version: your files never leave your Mac, and there is no tracking.

Your Files Stay Yours

Every conversion runs locally on your Mac with on-device engines. Your files are never uploaded anywhere. Converted files are written next to your originals, or wherever you choose in the app.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally

Snipe stores the following data locally on your Mac:

  • App Settings: Preferences such as your hotkey, ring order, converter presets, and quality options
  • Trial and License State: Trial start date and your license key, kept in the macOS Keychain
  • Converted Files: Written only where you choose. Nothing else is kept.

This local data is not transmitted to our servers unless explicitly described below.

Data Transmitted to Our Servers

If you activate or manage a license, Snipe sends the following information to our licensing service:

  • License Key: To activate Snipe Pro and validate your license status
  • Device Identifier: A device-specific identifier derived for license activation and device limits
  • Device Name: Your Mac's local device name, used to help identify activated devices in license management

If you purchase a license, payment and purchase records are handled by Stripe and our licensing/purchase infrastructure. If you check for updates, Snipe contacts the configured update feed. If you install a converter engine from inside the app, it is downloaded from its provider.

The current version of Snipe does not collect:

  • The contents of files you convert
  • Keystrokes or typed content
  • Browsing history
  • Camera or microphone recordings
  • Advertising identifiers or analytics telemetry

Local System Access

To summon the menu, Snipe watches for your hotkey and reads your current Finder selection, which requires macOS Accessibility permission.

This happens entirely on your Mac. Keystrokes, file contents, and file names are never sent to our servers.

How We Use Your Information

  • Core App Functionality: To remember your settings, hotkey, ring order, and converter presets
  • License Validation: To activate Snipe Pro, verify license status, and enforce device limits
  • App Updates: To check for and retrieve newer app versions
  • Customer Support: To help with license-related questions and support requests you send us

Data Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information. We only share information with third parties when needed to run the product or comply with the law, including:

  • Payment Processing: Stripe handles payment transactions. See Stripe's Privacy Policy
  • Licensing Infrastructure: Our license API receives license activation and validation data such as your license key, device identifier, and device name
  • Update and Engine Downloads: Snipe may contact the configured update feed and engine providers to check for and retrieve app updates and converter engines
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights

Data Retention

  • Local App Data: Stored until you delete the app data, remove the app, or change your settings
  • Saved License Key: Stored in your Mac Keychain until you remove it or uninstall Snipe
  • Converted Files: Remain where you saved them until you delete them
  • License and Purchase Records: Retained as needed to operate the license system, support your purchase, and comply with legal obligations

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View and manage the settings stored on your Mac
  • Delete: Remove local app data by changing settings, forgetting your saved license key, or uninstalling the app
  • Manage Activations: Deactivate devices through the license manager
  • Contact Us: Ask questions or request deletion of server-side purchase or licensing data where applicable

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • All server communications use HTTPS encryption
  • Your trial state and license key are stored locally in the macOS Keychain
  • Your files never leave your device

Children's Privacy

Snipe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update this page, notify users in the app, or post a notice on our website.
